Giant Walking Stick (Megaphasma denticrus)
This is a giant walking stick (Megaphasma denticrus). They are common in Missouri in late summer. This beautiful insect is about 10" (25 cm) long and very colorful. The image was captured with a Nikon D7200 equipped with a 60mm Micro-Nikkor lens. The "walking stick" is resting on a lazy Susan allowing the specimen to be rotated for optimum illumination.
